IMPORTANT
Work has now started on stabilising the West wall of the garden. Temporary wooden supports are now in place and access is no longer restricted.

Entry to the garden is free.
There is easy disabled access from the High Street.
The garden is open daily from 9.00am until 6.00pm in the summer and 4.00pm in the winter. Wardens are generally available from 10.00am. Plants are for sale at all times and when the office is open seasonal home made jams, a selection of cards and other small gifts are available for purchase.

The Garden is situated in the middle of the High Street opposite Marks & Spencer behind the offices of Mackarness & Lunt. There is ample paid parking in the Central Car Park to the rear of the garden.

The garden is closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.

Ladies in Lavender

Lavender growing in the Physic Garden has now been harvested. Pictured here are the ladies bunching and tieing the flowers.
The flower spikes may be used for dry flower arrangements whereas the pale purple flowers and buds may be used in potpourris. Lavender may also be used to fill sachets to freshen linen or placed amongst clothes to deter moths. It has become popular recently for wedding confetti. In pillows, it is claimed that lavender aids sleep and relaxation.
